Putting Your Reading Specialist Endorsement Program To Work

The Reading Specialist Licensure Endorsement program at KU is designed for teachers who want to pursue the requirements for state licensure as a Reading Specialist in Kansas. The program provides a course of study on theory, research, and practice related from emergent readers to adult readers, as well as intervention techniques for beginning and striving readers. 

In addition to the licensure endorsement program coursework, the state requires the following for eligibility:

  • Current professional teaching license;
  • Two years of classroom teaching experience
  • A passing score on the Praxis II Subject Examination for Reading Specialist; and
  • A Master's degree.
