Teacher Education

The C&T Department at KU offers future teachers seven undergraduate program options for initial licensure: Elementary Education, Unified Early Childhood, Middle Level Science, Middle Level Math, Secondary English, Secondary History & Government, or Foreign Language. Other options include: Health & Physical Education, Visual Art Education, Music Education, or UKanTeach.

Curriculum and Instruction

The C&T Department at KU​ offers aspiring educators various degree program options in curriculum and instruction, both on-campus and online. Areas of program emphasis include: Curriculum Studies, Foreign Language Education, Language Arts/English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education.

Elementary Education

The Elementary Teacher Education program at KU program is offered at the undergraduate level to prepare individuals for initial licensure to teach children in kindergarten through sixth-grade.  At the graduate level, the C&T Department at KU​ offers a Master's degree with an emphasis in Elementary Education. Reading Education

Reading education in the C&T Department at KU​ is offered to licensed teachers looking o acquire advanced teaching skills within the within the Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction.  In addition to the Master's degree emphasis option, educators are able to complete the requirements for Reading Specialist add-on endorsement in Kansas. TESOL (Teaching In English To Speakers Of Other Languages) 

In today’s multicultural classroom, great educators need to understand how to help children from diverse language backgrounds learn English. The TESOL program at KU is designed for passionate educators to learn strategies and tools critical in supporting language acquisition for English as a second or other language students throughout their education.
